AL-01: OPEN (Byrne) (R) - Southwest corner: Mobile Solid Republican. Rep. Bradley Byrne is challenging Democratic Sen. Doug Jones in 2020, sparking a competitive March 3 primary and likely GOP runoff on April 14. This Mobile seat has been in GOP hands since 1964 - longer than any other in Alabama - and has traditionally elected a business-minded Republican who has secured federal support for the district's defense and aerospace interests, including Airbus.
