Highlights from last night's primaries in New Hampshire and Delaware:
- Democrats hope to flip New Hampshire’s governor’s mansion with former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig, who’s facing Republican former Sen. Kelly Ayotte.
- Former Biden administration official Maggie Goodlander easily won the Democratic nomination to succeed retiring Rep. Annie Kuster in New Hampshire’s 2nd District.
- New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer won the Democratic nomination for Delaware’s open governorship, defeating Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long by 10 points.
The most competitive governor’s race in 2024 is finally set — former Sen. Kelly Ayotte against former Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig. As expected, Ayotte easily won her GOP primary by a more than two-to-one margin, while Craig eked out a much closer Democratic primary win over Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington.
With popular Republican Gov. Chris Sununu not seeking a fifth two-year term, the open New Hampshire seat is Democrats’ best chance to pick up a governor’s mansion. But the late mudslinging in the Democratic contest, which stood in contrast to Ayotte’s glide path, has threatened that. Craig attacked Warmington over her past work for opioid companies,
