Though Republicans lost a tranche of statewide elections in Arizona last cycle, they eked out victories in two purple House seats: Rep. David Schweikert held on to the 1st District in the rapidly growing northern Phoenix suburbs, and Juan Ciscomani flipped the open 6th District, which includes Tucson and surrounding rural counties.

Both Toss Up districts are now top targets for Democrats as they attempt to take control of the House. Though some Democrats believe longtime GOP Rep. David Schweikert is the more vulnerable of the two, they’ve been hampered by a messy Democratic primary, which will finally come to a close next Tuesday.

Meanwhile, both parties have safe open seats that have recently attracted millions of dollars in outside spending. In the Phoenix-based 3rd District, the former chair of the state Democratic party has a surprisingly competitive primary against a Phoenix city councilmember. And 2022 Senate nominee Blake Masters has moved across the state to run for the suburban Phoenix 8th District — but this cycle, Trump isn’t on his side.
