Tuesday's congressional primaries didn't produce a lot of surprises but clarified matters in several of November's top races. If Democrats want to make House gains in the double digit range, they'll need to capitalize on Trump's unpopularity in places like California and reclaim seats where Republicans won upsets, such as Iowa. And for the most part, Democrats got the candidates they wanted this week. In our view, freshman GOP Rep. Steve Knight (CA-25) is now the most vulnerable incumbent in California. The last Republican to represent a part of Los Angeles County, he sits in a district where GOP registration is in free fall and now faces a strong opponent in Democratic consumer rights attorney Bryan Caforio. And in Iowa, we see Democrats' new nominee, Monica Vernon, as the slight favorite over freshman GOP Rep. Rod Blum (IA-01).
