Republicans inched closer to control of the House over the weekend after crucial races out west were called in their favor. But they’re still a few seats short of a majority, as tight races in California, Arizona, and Alaska have yet to be called.

When all is said and done, Republicans will likely have a 220-to-222 seat majority, practically identical to their current 221-seat majority.

With that little wiggle room to pass legislation, every vacancy matters — and they’ll have at least two now that GOP Reps. Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and Michael Waltz (FL-06) were tapped for roles in the Trump administration. That might mean House Republicans effectively have a one-seat majority until those seats are filled.

Republicans notched a victory on Sunday in CO-08, where Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo has conceded to Republican state Rep. Gabe Evans.
