Sometimes politicians get into a tough position with no easy way out, and their best option is just to plow straight ahead. Hillary Clinton is now in such a position. The most reputable Iowa caucus polling this month shows Clinton with a very narrow lead over Bernie Sanders. The Des Moines Register/Bloomberg News survey, conducted by the highly regarded Des Moines-based Ann Selzer, shows the former secretary of State with a 2-point lead over the senator from Vermont among likely caucus attendees, 42 to 40 percent. The NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll, which is conducted by Marist University and in my opinion is the best of the university-affiliated polls, pegs the Clinton edge at 3 points, 48 to 45 percent. A Quinnipiac University survey gives Sanders a 5-point lead, 49 to 44 percent. In New Hampshire, the NBC/WSJ/Marist poll puts Sanders up by 4 points among likely primary voters, 50 to 46 percent. Two other polls that I view with some skepticism give Sanders bigger leads. Fox News shows him up by 13 points, 50 to 37 percent, and Monmouth University
