
We are only two weeks into President Donald Trump’s second term, and the pace and scope of executive orders and actions issued have been furious, with no signs of slowing. He’s focused on his top priorities like deporting illegal immigrants, ending DEI and imposing tariffs on imported goods. He’s also empowered his allies like Elon Musk to take a blowtorch to government programs and personnel, and has fired FBI prosecutors who were involved in the prosecution of Jan. 6 criminal cases.
Some are calling this a “shock and awe” strategy. But it’s not an entirely fair description. After all, Trump campaigned on doing the very things he’s doing right now. Well, except for the Panama Canal thing … that wasn’t in his stump speech.
But, everything else, from rooting out the “deep state,” to deporting millions of illegal immigrants, to trashing diversity programs and rolling back protections for transgender Americans, was laid out very clearly during the campaign.
As such, it’s understandable that he and his supporters believe he has a mandate. If voters didn’t want to do these things,
