Welcome to First Person. I'm Amy Walter. Today, we're talking North Carolina.
The Tar Heel state is a state that had recently been sitting in our lean Republican column, and this week, we moved it into toss-up. Why? Well, the first most important reason why is there's a new Democrat on top of the ticket.
Even though Biden came very close to winning this state in 2020, lost it by about a point and a half, the polling, especially in these last few weeks of of June and July, showed him really struggling and, the Trump campaign the Donald Trump having a pretty significant lead. In other words, he wasn't getting any traction at all in North Carolina.
