I'm Carrie Dann, the new managing editor of the Cook Political Report, and I am delighted to tell you today about an awesome new tool that we are re unveiling that tracks the president's job approval rating, and we're gonna keep doing it for the next eighteen months and beyond.It's called the CPR poll tracker.

Look. You guys know it's a well established historical trend that the party in power tends to suffer at the hands of voters in midterm elections when the president isn't on the ballot. And that's particularly true when the president isn't particularly popular. That's why it's so important to keep track of how the nation as a whole is viewing the president's job approval even eighteen months before the midterms.
