I'm Jessica Taylor. I'm the senate and governor's editor here at the political report. We have had a several senate retirements over the past few weeks. Our most recent one was, New Hampshire Democratic senator Jean Shaheen last week, bringing the total number of retirements to four, three Democrats, and one Republican.Now that one Republican, Mitch McConnell, will be long expected. He, of course, stepped down as Republican leader at the end of last year, in his eighties, has had, you know, some health issues, health scares, falls, and different things. So pretty expected. We're watching a very competitive Republican primary that's going to emerge there and succeed him.Shaheen also wasn't as expect was pretty expected.
