Full Bio:
Abbott was born in Wichita Falls, and raised in Duncanville, Texas. He graduated from The University of Texas with a BBA in finance and received a law degree from Vanderbilt University. Abbott’s career in public service began in Houston, where he served as a state trial judge in the 129th District Court for three years. In 1995, then-Governor George W. Bush appointed Abbott to the Texas Supreme Court, where he served with distinction. He was elected attorney general of Texas in 2006 and was reelected in November 2010. As the state’s chief law enforcement official, Abbott made protecting Texas communities the focus of his tenure as attorney general. Abbott and his wife Cecilia live in Austin with their daughter, Audrey. Source: National Governors Association
