Carrie Dann is the Managing Editor of The Cook Political Report. She plays an integral leadership role across the organization’s editorial and business teams, ensuring that readers and subscribers get the razor-sharp nonpartisan analysis for which CPR is known, wherever they are.

The newest member of the CPR team, Carrie is a writing and data nerd, as well as a consummate team player who is passionate about informing voters about their political system in an incisive and contextualized way.

Before coming to The Cook Political Report, Carrie spent 18 years at the Washington DC bureau of NBC News. After getting her start as an intern, she traveled the country as an embedded campaign reporter for the 2008 presidential cycle, a role which she reprised during the 2012 presidential election. She later served as a reporter and editor in the network’s political unit, where she led writing and research teams for election nights and presidential debates. She covered 10 national elections for the network, and has appeared on MSNBC, NBC News Now, and The Chuck ToddCast. Most recently, she was a senior manager overseeing NBC’s Capitol Hill team.

A native of the suburbs of Washington D.C., Carrie graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006.
