The CPR Governor Race Ratings assess the competitiveness of all gubernatorial elections in 2023 and 2024. Competitiveness is determined by several factors, including the state's political makeup, the candidates' strengths and weaknesses, the political environment in the state and nationally, and interviews with candidates and campaign professionals. There are currently 26 Republican governors and 24 Democratic governors.
