Founded in 1984, The Cook Political Report provides analyses of Presidential, U.S. Senate, House and gubernatorial races. The New York Times has called the Report "a newsletter both parties regard as authoritative."

Jessica Taylor

Editor, Senate and Governors

Jessica Taylor is the Senate and Governors Editor for The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter. Before joining Cook, Taylor was a political reporter for National Public Radio for five years, where she covered elections and breaking news, ranging from the White House to both chambers of Congress and statewide elections. She is the first female senior author for The Almanac of American Politics in the book's 50 year history, a role she held for both the 2022 and 2024 editions.

Chief Operating Officer

Kathryn Hamm is the Chief Operating Officer for The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, overseeing business operations, strategic partnerships, and sales development. She is the former Publisher of GayWeddings, and Diversity & Inclusion Specialist and Wedding Pro for WeddingWire and The Knot Worldwide.

Managing Editor

Ally is the Managing Editor of The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter. She works across the editorial and business teams to bring the Cook Political Report to life for subscribers. Ally has been at the Cook Political Report since 2015 and is known as a dynamic team player and problem-solver.

Beth Fekade

Coordinator, Client Services

Beth is the Coordinator of Client Services at The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter. She works with customers to support the subscriber experience, coordinates events and provides service and support for all group and premium accounts. She joined The Cook Political Report in 2022.  Prior to joining the team, she was a Congressional Relations Intern at Ultra Electronics. A Northern Virginia native, Beth holds a B.A. in International Public Policy, a certificate degree in National Security & Foreign Affairs, and a minor in German from Virginia Tech.

Matthew Klein

Staff Writer

As Staff Writer for The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, Matthew Klein is responsible for the maintenance of CPR's Race Ratings, CPR Race Pages, and At-A-Glance charts,  provides support for the editors, and contributes content to support CPR's House, Senate and Governor's analysis. Born and raised in Maryland, he gained attention for his #DistrictOfTheDay Twitter project, which examined each congressional district in the nation over 435 consecutive days. He graduated from Emory University in 2021 with a BA in Political Science and a minor in Film and Media.

Charles E. Cook, Jr.

Founder and Contributor

Charlie Cook is widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading authorities on U.S. elections and political trends. Charlie founded the independent, non-partisan Cook Political Report in 1984, serving as Editor and Publisher until August 1, 2021 when Amy Walter took over those roles, ownership and management of the venerable newsletter. Charlie will remain as a contributor to the renamed “Cook Political Report with Amy Walter.”
