On May 27, three Republican runoffs are worth watching in the Lone Star State: in East Texas, nonagenarian Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-04) is in the fight of his political life against former U.S. Attorney John Ratcliffe, while Republicans Brian Babin and Ben Streusand are battling it out to be the next member from failed Senate candidate Steve Stockman's 36th CD.

In the Southwest 23rd CD, former Rep. Quico Canseco wants his old seat back from Democratic Rep. Pete Gallego, but must get past former CIA officer Will Hurd in the runoff first. Thanks to the court-brokered redistricting map made permanent by the GOP in 2013, Republicans hold a 24-12 edge in the state, and the 23rd will be the only remotely competitive district in November.

TX-01: Louie Gohmert (R) - East Texas: Tyler, Lufkin Solid Republican. One of the fieriest members of the Tea Party Caucus in the House, Gohmert hasn't looked back since drubbing Democratic Rep. Max Sandlin in 2004. The courts barely touched this seat in 2012 redistricting.

TX-02: Ted Poe (R) - Houston north suburbs: Kingwood, Spring Solid Republican.
