Full Bio:
Phil Scott was sworn in as the governor of Vermont on January 5, 2017.
Phil Scott was elected as Vermont’s 79th lieutenant governor in 2010. In 2011, in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene, he organized the removal and disposal of mobile homes destroyed by flooding, all at no cost to homeowners and without spending any taxpayer dollars. He also served for 10 years in the Vermont Senate, where he built a reputation for working across the aisle and held leadership positions on the transportation and institutions committees. In 2005, he founded the Wheels for Warmth program, through which Vermonters donate tires to be recycled or resold at affordable prices, with the proceeds benefiting heating fuel assistance programs.
Before his career in public service, he was an entrepreneur and co-owner of Dubois Construction, an excavation company in Middlesex. He worked his way up from day laborer to foreman, eventually buying the company. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont in industrial education. He lives in Berlin with his wife, Diana. They have two daughters, Erica and Rachael.
