Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Jim Gerlach’s decision to run for governor creates the first open seat of the cycle that looks like a true toss up. One of only six remaining Republican-held districts won by John Kerry in 2004, the suburban 6th CD is sure to attract the attention and resources of Democrats, who don’t have many places to play offense. Gerlach’s decision moves the district from the Lean Republican column to the Toss Up column.
