Nebraska and West Virginia hold their primaries on May 10th.

Nebraska NE-01: VACANT (Fortenberry) (R) - East: Lincoln, Norfolk Solid Republican. On April 9, the Nebraska GOP's executive committee selected former state legislature Speaker Mike Flood as their nominee for a June 28 special election after GOP Rep. Jeff Fortenberry resigned March 31 for accepting illegal campaign contributions in 2016. That also makes Flood the prohibitive favorite over retired Air Force Lt. Col. John Glen Weaver in the May 10 GOP primary for the full term. Flood, who owns a chain of rural TV and radio stations and was elected the youngest speaker in state history in 2007, is regarded as an ag-oriented mainstream conservative. Flood had announced a primary to Fortenberry in January, raising $717,000 and earning Gov. Pete Ricketts' endorsement before the incumbent was convicted and resigned.
