House Editor David Wasserman writes: Over the past 15 years, both parties have taken turns holding each of New Mexico's three Congressional districts. But like so much of the nation, the Land of Enchantment appears to have polarized. In 2010, Republicans decisively won back the rural southern 2nd CD, but failed to win back the Albuquerque 1st CD and didn't really put up a fight in the Santa Fe-based 3rd CD. With 1st CD Democratic Rep. Martin Heinrich running for Senate, all eyes are on his open Albuquerque seat, and particularly on the fierce three-way Democratic primary scheduled for June 5. Anyone of them-- former Albuquerque Mayor Marty Chavez, state Sen. Eric Griego, or Bernalillo County Commissioner Michelle Lujan Grisham-- would be favored to win the seat in the fall.
