Every day, we are met with a political crisis or event that is unprecedented. Just this week we witnessed the former president of the United States and current front runner for the Republican nomination as a defendant in a New York courtroom, the first of four trials he will face over the next few months. In another first, a New York judge has issued a gag order on the former president after Donald Trump criticized the judge’s law clerk on social media.

Hunter Biden was arraigned on gun charges in Delaware, setting the stage, as Reuters noted, for a historic first: “The criminal trial of the adult child of a sitting president who is campaigning for reelection.”

Meanwhile, the House continues to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into thus far unfounded claims that President Joe Biden benefitted from his son’s business dealings. If the GOP-led House moves forward with an impeachment vote, it will mark the third time in just five years the House has voted to impeach a president.
