Congressional boundaries. This was a welcome result for Republicans, who now control three of the state's four seats after two pickups in 2010. Republicans had been wary of sending a legislative-drawn map to the Obama Justice Department for Voting Rights Act preclearance, but a map drawn by federal judges bypasses this step. The most dramatic change in the map wasn't even that dramatic at all: the underpopulated African-American majority 2nd CD picked up racially mixed Panola, Yalobusha, and Grenada counties from the 1st CD, but remains heavily Democratic.

MS-01: Alan Nunnelee (R) – Northeast: Tupelo, Southaven, Columbus
