All of the significant movement over the past month took place in seats currently held by the GOP. The Nebraska comest, where David Karnes is seeking election for the first time, is closing with the appointed incumbent gaining ground on popular former Gov. Bob Kerrey. In Nevada, the arrow is pointing the other direction with incumbent Chic Hecht slipping back from Gov. Richard Bryan after closing the gap dramatically during the spring. While David Durenberger remains extremely vulnerable in Minnesota, state Allomey General Skip Humphrey's fundraising has not been strong enough to keep the race in the Toss Up column. Fundraising problems, particularly from in-state individuals, are hurting state Sen. Jay Nixon's ability to compete in Missouri against incumbent Jack Danforth, moving the race to Solid Republican.
